Allahabad in Oblivion!

In all probability, Allahabad will demolish its own record by holding the largest assembly of people in 2013 at Sangam. Mahakumbh, the epitome of our spiritual supremacy, unfortunately, draws less government attention than even the Commonwealth, the symbol of British imperial legacy and India's plunder.

I have always maintained that Kumbh deserves a lot more than what we deliver. The congregation at the Confluence, i.e, the number of pilgrims flocking at Sangam has always been a world record. Cosmos shrink to fit into the Sangam area during the Kumbh mela.

The Inconvenient Truth

It seems Julian Paul Assange from Australia is in race with none other than Osama bin Laden as the biggest threat to the United States authority. This 39 year old Aussie has become a terrorist of sorts for America without exploding a single bomb or WMDs. US embassies known for its gunboat diplomacy throughout the world are feeling the tremors, if they are to be believed.

Still wondering as to what am i talking about? Then you might not be following the series of  leaks of confidential cache of US cables and may be you are better off not following.

Julian Assange is the founder of WikiLeaks, the whistle-blower website with a slogan -"We Open Governments." Let us first delve into the quantitative dimension of this inconvenient truth.

Games of our Common Wealth!

Ahha! Finally the games are over with good memories for some and good riddance for others. The games medal tally, though soothing to eyes, is not something I am very ecstatic about. Rather I am far more delighted for the fact that some of our non-cricketing sportspeople are hogging the limelight. Gratifying to see new faces who fought all odds to rise against the tide, being interviewed on national television.

However it is to be seen if this newfound attention towards sports other than cricket continues and for how long. And if this new love and spotlight is only on account of the gold haul but no genuine concern for sports then I have a better idea. The idea is that we can vouch for a Commonwealth of Asian games where only the Asian Commonwealth members would

Are You Independent!

Decades earlier we fought the British for our Independence. Centuries ago we had the Mughals as outsiders. Digging even deeper in history we find our motherland being ruled by many such alien authorities and ill-intentioned powers. In simple words, we were not Independent.

Now that we celebrate an Independence day every year, paradoxically still,

Youth Forum, down but not out, continues the fight..

In the August of 2009, the Youth Forum started a campaign to hoist the National Flag on the pylons of the elegant Naini bridge. A signature campaign was started to give a good launch pad to the movement. Thousands of people-students, lawyers, doctors-from all walks of life contributed to the success of the signature campaign. We then met and handed over a memorandum to the District Magistrate, Allahabad to have our will accomplished.
